ACAN Eric Cross received the award because he qualified in three air traffic control positions in less than fifteen percent of the allocated time, giving his team a significant increase in manning flexibility, according to his citation.

Capt. Dennis Lazar presented the Unsung Hero Award to four members of the NAWS command during the NAWS awards luncheon last month.

Seth Sampson received the award because he played a pivotal role in improving the single access road to Darwin’s lone water. “The road was considered to be dangerous, his efforts to grade the road and remove boulders helped improve the resident’s ability to safely access water,” read the citation.

ABH2 Manuel Laguna received the award for “demonstrating outstanding initiative and an exceptionally high degree of professional excellence,” that increased the effectiveness of the NAWS China Lake Air Operations Department, according to the citation

Jose Olivencia received the award for analyzing patrol requirements for the CLPD making patrols both tactically and cost effective, resulting in “increased the effectiveness and efficiency of the Force Protection Department,” according to the citation.
