Raytheon engineers visit NAWCWD

Official Navy photo

Tony Damiano, of the Ordnance Test and Evaluation Division of NAWCWD’s Weapons and Energetics Department, gives Raytheon Missile Systems engineers a tour of the China Lake Propulsion Laboratories’ display room during a visit May 3 to China Lake. The visit is part of an ongoing employee exchange that began in 2009 between NAWCWD and Raytheon Missile Systems. On April 11, NAWCWD employees traveled to Raytheon in Tucson, Ariz. to learn about weapons manufacturing. The Raytheon engineers came to China Lake to take a look at weapons from a research, development, acquisition and test and evaluation perspective. This exchange is aimed at improving communication and building relationships early. While at China Lake, the group was given overviews and tours of various areas including unmanned systems, the Integrated Battlespace Arena, the Hardware In the Loop facility, the Weapons Dynamic Test facility, the Range Control Center, miniature munitions and a windshield tour of Salt Wells.
