Spring Training Game: Chicago White Sox vs. Los Angeles Dodgers 

March 23

Game start: 1:05 p.m., gates open at 11:30 a.m.

Major League Spring Training is returning to Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium on Friday, March 23 at 1:05 p.m. when the Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers play a charity game to benefit the Christina-Taylor Green Foundation. Gates open at 11:30 a.m.

Cost/Pricing: Field Box $20/Outfield Reserved $15/Terrace $15/Bleacher $10/Lawn $6/Suites: $500 (up to 20 people). Call (520) 434-1367 or visit the Kino Stadium box office from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.

 

4th Avenue Spring Street Fair

March 23 – 25

Open Daily 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

There are two 4th Avenue Street Fairs per year, one in spring and one in winter. The Street Fair takes place between Ninth Street and University Blvd. along 4th Avenue.  The 4th Avenue Street Fair brings together over 400 arts and crafts booths, over 35 food vendors, two stages, street musicians, food, jugglers, street performers, the ever so popular Free Arizona Virtual Academy’s Tucson’s Children’s Museum’s kids hands-on-art pavilion, face painting, balloons, and tons of other fun activities, then packs them into three days of celebration. Please remember that animals are not allowed at the fair.

 

8th Annual Winter Rocket Launch: Desert Heat 2012

March 24-25

The Rocket Launch is held at 3250 N. Reservation Road at the Tucson International Modelplex Park Association. GPS coordinates are +32° 15′ 53.06″, -111° 16′ 25.90. Rockets will be launched 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday. A night launch will be held on Saturday from dusk until 9 p.m.

Desert Heat 2012 is a two-day rocket extravaganza that includes fun, raffles, prizes and events for the whole family, featuring the popular mass launch of 50 flying tetrahedrons on both Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. Food and rocket vendors will be on-site to supply you with everything you need for this event. Recreational RV parking is available, but no hookups are available.

 

Arizona Renaissance Festival 2012

Saturdays and Sundays through April 1

10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Where: East of Apache Junction on US Highway 60, just past Gold Canyon Golf Resort, near the Superstition Mountains. Parking is FREE courtesy of Fry’s and Fry’s Marketplace.

 

TMUG (Tucson Macintosh Users Group) Meetings

3rd Wednesday evening of each month at the University of Arizona Medical Center

TMUG (Tucson Macintosh Users Group) mission is to educate the Tucson community about the use of personal computers and the Internet with the particular emphasis on the use and care of Macintosh Computers. TMUG has regular presentations and ask the experts sessions are free and open to the public on the third Wednesday of each month. There is a Beginners educational session entitled “Mac OS Tips and Programs” which begins at 6 p.m. These sessions are aimed at the new user. There is a separate “Ask the Experts” Q&A session which also begins at 6 p.m. The general meeting begins at 7 p.m. Subjects vary. We attempt to have professional speakers who provide information of interest to all Macintosh users.

 

Mexican Arts Sale at Tohono Chul Park:

Mexican Arts Sale at Tohono Chul Park: Mata Ortiz Pottery, Oaxacan Carvings, Zapotec Rugs. Free admission to the sale. Those planning to attend may enter from Northern Avenue on the east side of the Park.

 

Wildflower Tours at Tohono Chul Park

Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 10 a.m. through April 26

Tohono Chul Park offers great, docent-guided wildflower tours of the park on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. from March through April. Tours meet at the Overlook Ramada, last about an hour and are free with the cost of admission. Gold, pink and purple await you! Tour is free with regular Park admission.

Park Admission: Free to Park Members & Children under 5, $8 Adults (13+), $6 Seniors (62+), $5 Active Military, $4 Students with valid ID, $2 Children (5-12)
