Pima Community College to hold ceremony honoring fallen troops
Friday, March 30 – 7 a.m.
PCC’s Downtown Campus will host a special ceremony in memory of America’s military men and women who died in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. The event will take place in the Downtown Campus courtyard, 1255 N. Stone Ave. The name of each of our fallen heroes will be read, followed by the ringing of a bell. This ceremony is being held in conjunction with a March 31 citywide parade to salute the veterans and active-duty personnel in the U.S. armed services who fought in Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom Afghanistan war.
Tucson’s Welcome Home Veterans Parade
Saturday, March 31 – 10:30 a.m.
The parade route will start north on Stone Avenue and continue on Pennington Street, then move west on Franklin street turning south on Main Avenue, east on Alameda street, and south on Church to end back on Pennington and Stone. For more information on the parade, see www.thankyousazvets.org/.
SAVHCS to hold Ex-POW Recognition DayÂ
Monday, April 9 – 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) is inviting the public to learn more about a special group of Veterans – America’s former prisoners of war (EX-POW’s).  The EX-POW’s will be presenting the “EX-POW Recognition Day” on in the Patio Conference Room of Building Four. This program is co-sponsored by both SAVAHCS and the American EX-POW southern Arizona Chapter.  The event is free and open to the public.

TMUG (Tucson Macintosh Users Group) Meetings
3rd Wednesday evening of each month at the University of Arizona Medical Center
TMUG (Tucson Macintosh Users Group) mission is to educate the Tucson community about the use of personal computers and the Internet with the particular emphasis on the use and care of Macintosh Computers. TMUG has regular presentations and ask the experts sessions are free and open to the public on the third Wednesday of each month. There is a Beginners educational session entitled “Mac OS Tips and Programs” which begins at 6 p.m. These sessions are aimed at the new user. There is a separate “Ask the Experts” Q&A session which also begins at 6 p.m. The general meeting begins at 7 p.m. Subjects vary. We attempt to have professional speakers who provide information of interest to all Macintosh users.

Wildflower Tours at Tohono Chul ParkÂ
Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays through April 26 – 10 a.m.Â
Tohono Chul Park offers great, docent-guided wildflower tours of the park on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. from March through April. Tours meet at the Overlook Ramada, last about an hour and are free with the cost of admission. Gold, pink and purple await you! Tour is free with regular Park admission.

Electronics recycling event at Whole Foods Markets
Saturday, April 7 – 8 a.m.
Tucson area residents will be able to dispose of unwanted electronics at a free waste-recycling event, on Saturday, April 7. The free waste-recycling event will start at 8 a.m. and conclude at 1 p.m. in the parking lots of Whole Foods Markets, 3360 E. Speedway Blvd. and 7133 N. Oracle Road. The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) and its partners, Whole Foods Market, World Care and Westech Recyclers of Phoenix, anticipate the collection of unwanted televisions, computers, monitors, batteries, chargers, cell phones, VCRs, CD and DVD players, printers, small appliances, fax machines, cables and cords during the event.
