Davis-Monthan Women’s Golf Association wraps-up regular season

June Meek accepts the Club Champion trophy from Tournament Director, Nancy Fee. She squeaked by to win the Club Championship by one stroke. Meek also won the Low Gross State Medallion Medal. She is now eligible to compete at the State level in December, 2012.

The Davis-Monthan Women’s Golf Association completed its regular season’s play this month. On April 18, awards and prizes were presented to the members. The 2012 Commander’s Cup winner was Cleo Elve. This three-day tournament was held in January. To top off her win, on the last day of play, Elve had a hole in one on #11, a 144 yard par 3.

June Meek was crowned DMWGA’s Club Champion on March 7. The weather on the last day of the championship was cold and blustery, but Meek toughed out the conditions to win by one stroke. Meek also won the Low Gross State Medallion Medal. Lynne Lombard took the Low Net Medal in the same tournament. These two winners are now eligible to compete at the State level in December, 2012.

The DMWGA continues to play Wednesday mornings through May and most of June. Guests are always welcome. If you are interested in joining them for a day, or a season, contact the pro shop at Blanchard Golf Course, 520-228-3734.
