Visit Tucson Museum of Art for free

Calling all active duty military! If you are looking for family vacation ideas this summer, you can visit The Tucson Museum of Art for free through the Blue Star Museums program. Blue Star Museums are more than 1,800 museums nationwide which offer free admission to active duty military and their families between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

 

Thrift Shop Moving

The Davis-Monthan Thrift Shop is relocating in August to Bldg. 1226 with a Grand Opening on Saturday, Aug. 4. The Thrift Shop is closed for the month of July, but donations can be dropped off at the current location, Bldg. 4201 until Aug. 4. After Aug. 4, all consignments and donations will be at the new location. If you have any questions, please call the Thrift Shop at 228-2120.

 

EFMP Family & Friends Bowling

July 10, 1-3 p.m. at the D-M Lanes Bowling Center. Cost: $3 per person; includes two games and shoes. Pre-registration requested. To RSVP, call 228-5690.

 

Employment Workshop

July 11, 9 a.m.-noon at the Kennedy PDC, Room 148

Deployed Family Dining

July 11, 4-5:45 p.m. at the D-M Lanes Bowling Center. Free for family members of deployed personnel — great opportunity to socialize with other deployed families. To RSVP, call 228-5690.

 

International Spouse Group

July 12, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Arts & Crafts Center. Are you a spouse who was born in another country? Join us for “fun with ceramics” and meet with other international spouses. To RSVP, call 228-5690.

 

Free Issue and Hazardous Materials/Waste minimization

The Hazmart has a “Free Issue” storage area. The hazardous materials are new and serviceable but have been returned because they are either excess or are no longer required by the shops. These items have already been paid for and shops that are authorized and could use the hazardous materials will not be charged. Please remind your shops of the Free Issue storage area and also remind them to only order the minimum amount of materials needed to do the job. This avoids wasting expired hazardous materials.

 

Household Hazardous Materials

The Hazmart manages the Household Hazardous Materials storage area. The program was established so personnel who are doing a PCS, or no longer need new or partially used household hazardous materials, ie, bleach, chlorine tables, oils, cleaning supplies, can bring them to the Hazmart, located in Bldg. 5227. We will check them for serviceability and stock the shelves. These items are provided to base personnel at no cost on a first come, first serve basis. Please call us at 228-5588 or visit us at Bldg. 5227.

 

Society of Military Widows to meet

The Society of Military Widows will meet for business meeting, luncheon and program at noon, the 3rd Saturday of the month at Atria Bell Court Gardens, 6653 E. Carondelet. Please, make your reservations to Virginia Lind Sanborn 721-8091, two weeks prior to the meeting.
