Base to host antiterrorism Mobile Training Team

Ron Hoover
Installation antiterrorism officer

Davis-Monthan is scheduled to host an Antiterrorism and Force Protection Level II Mobile Training Team from August 20-24.

The training is offered to key members of D-M’s populace, specifically security managers, unit antiterrorism representatives and individuals required to attend by their commander.

Air Combat Command provides a MTT every other year throughout the command. Davis-Monthan hosts yearly due to our size, unique missions and location since 2007.

Antiterrorism and force protection is a very serious matter and is an integral part of our overall mission assurance. This MTT is very important to ensure the units are trained and integrated into the Installations antiterrorism program.

The saying that ever Airman is a sensor is particularly true especially in the funding and manpower constraints that we are now experiencing. Davis-Monthan has a strong and exceptional program that has been recognized and benchmarked at the Department of Defense, Air Force and Major Command level, winning best Installation and program manager yearly awards on multiple occasions.

Continuing this success and unit participation is essential in the tactical execution phase. Successful completion ensures a conduit for the unit antiterrorism and force protection monitor that’s integrated into the overall program. The curriculum is also tailored to the unit representative’s responsibilities to the installation antiterrorism and force protection officer.

Some of the topics covered include:

  • Introduction to terrorism
  • Video case studies terrorism incidents
  • Unit antiterrorism roles and responsibilities
  • Domestic and international extremism
  • Individual protective measures
  • Active shooter
  • Force protection conditions and exercises
  • Assessing the threat, vulnerability, criticality and risk management
  • Antiterrorism plans, physical security considerations, and resource management

The installation has a very conservative antiterrorism and security profile that has tremendous senior leadership support and command emphasis. Protection of our personnel and assets are paramount to our success.

If you have any questions regarding the antiterrorism and force protection program or issues, contact Mr. Ron Hoover, installation antiterrorism and force protection officer at 228-0027.
