Air National Guard members are required to register information about their civilian place of employment. About 22 percent of 162nd Fighter Wing members are currently compliant.
The Civilian Employment Information Program is the first mandatory disclosure by members of the Guard and Reserve of their civilian employers into a common database. The CEI program began in March 2004.
Guardsmen can register and update their CEI online at https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/esgr/privacyAction.do. Members can log onto the database from any computer.
After clicking on the Web site, members enter their employment status, employer’s name, mailing address, civilian job title and total number of years in their current civilian occupation.
Unlike previous military service efforts to voluntarily gather employer data, the CEI program is mandatory. Guard members who knowingly fail or refuse to provide their employment-related information, or provide false information, may be subject to administrative action.
For those not employed, students or otherwise, there is a section to update that information as well. Members who are on orders and do not have a regular civilian job at this time they should complete this as unemployed.
Guard and Reserve members are required to register information about their civilian employer and job skills, in order for the Department of Defense to meet three different requirements defined by law.
The Department of Defense is required to: give consideration to civilian employment necessary to maintain national health, safety and interest when considering members for recall; ensure that members with critical civilian skills are not retained in numbers beyond those needed for those skills, and inform employers of Guardsmen of their rights and responsibilities under the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-employment Rights Act.
