Baby Basics

Sept. 19, 10-11:30 a.m. – Airman & Family Readiness Center

Baby Basics is for military members and their spouses who are expecting a baby and are in their third trimester. Topics include the importance of budgeting, parenting skills, child safety and more. Participants receive a free baby bundle full of items. Please RVSP at 228-5690. 

 

Tucson Meet Yourself Festival Volunteer Orientation

Sept. 20, 4-6 p.m. Airman & Family Readiness Center

Personnel interested in volunteering for this year’s Tucson Meet Yourself Festival on Oct. 12-14 are invited to attend a special volunteer presentation. Special Education Parent Meeting

Sept. 20, 9-11 a.m. – Hope Chapel Annex

Parent of children receiving Special Education (SPED) services in the public schools are invited to attend. The goal of the group is to assist families in navigating the on-going SPED Process, to share information and provide current information to families. The setting will be child friendly. Home School Group Meeting

Sept. 21, 9- 11 a.m. – Soaring Heights Park

Do you Home School? Whether you are brand new to the area or a long time resident, you are welcome to come out and meet other Home School families. The gathering is an informal setting to give children the opportunity to socialize with one another while parents exchange ideas & resources. Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage

OSC and ESC

The Davis-Monthan OSC and ESC invite all spouses to “A Tour of Tucson”, which will feature businesses and services at D-M and in the surrounding community. Everyone is welcome!

 

WIC Presentation

Oct. 4, 1-2 p.m. – Airman & Family Readiness Center

Come learn more about WIC, a free, federally-funded nutrition program. Participants may be eligible for free groceries, free baby formula, and/or assistance with a breast pump rental. A WIC representative will be here to give a presentation about the program, including benefits and eligibility requirements. Please RVSP at 228-5690.

 

Military Officers Association

The Military Officers Association of America meets for a business meeting lunch or dinner, and program on the fourth Wednesday of each month from September through May (except November). Military officers, active duty, reserve or retired, are eligible to attend. Our next meeting is Sept. 26, at Tanque Verde Guest Ranch; Topic includes guest political speakers. Volunteers are needed in a variety of areas on D-M and in the local community. Volunteering is an excellent way to become involved with the community, increase mentorship skills and enhance career growth.

Household Hazardous Materials

The Hazmart manages the Household Hazardous Materials storage area. The program was established so personnel who are doing a PCS, or no longer need new or partially used household hazardous materials, ie, bleach, chlorine tables, oils, cleaning supplies, can bring them to the Hazmart, located in Bldg. 5227. We will check them for serviceability and stock the shelves. These items are provided to base personnel at no cost on a first come, first serve basis.
