D-M to have Wingman Day Warrior Challenge

The life of a military member can often be filled with stress. Whether it’s because of a job, a deployment or being away from their support system, Airmen need ways to relax, have fun and build morale within their unit.

In an effort to strengthen the morale and welfare of D-M Airmen, the base is scheduled to have a Wingman Day, Sept. 28.

“Before Chief Howard left, he got with the first sergeants about having a down day called Warrior Day,” said Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Dan Zulli, 355th Fighter Wing head chaplain. “It was going to be a day of physical activities and sports. A Wingman Day was supposed to take place a few days before that and I thought we should combine the two. It’s now called the Wingman Day Warrior Challenge.”

Scheduled activities include a two-mile formation run, Marine Combat Fitness test, tug of war and obstacle course competition as well as other athletic events. The Culture of Responsible Choices will also be grilling up free food at Bama Park.

Having a day away from work and other stressors may help someone in need.

“For one day, if we can give someone who may be feeling stressed and overwhelmed, a day of fun and free food, it could make a difference,” Zulli said.
