Short Sales & Other Homeowner Relief Programs

Sept. 28, 10-11 a.m. (**NEW time**) – Airman & Family Readiness Center

A HUD Quality Assurance representative will provide current information on short sales, dealing with lenders, recent legislation providing relief for homeowners, and scams associated with the current mortgage situation. Please RVSP at 228-5690.

Arizona Empowerment Scholarship Presentation 

Sept. 28, 2 p.m. – Professional Development Center, Room 132

A representative from Arizona Department of Education will be here to give a presentation on the Arizona Empowerment Scholarship. Active duty and family members are welcome to attend. Arizona’s Empowerment Scholarship Accounts allow parents of children with disabilities to withdraw their children from public district or charter schools and receive a portion of their public funding deposited into an education savings account with defined, multiple uses. In the 2013-14 school year, the program extends eligibility to students in a public school or school district with a letter grade of D or F, children of active military members. Parents can use their account funds to pay for private school tuition, virtual education programs, private tutoring, or future college expenses. For more information, call Stacy Dutton at 228-6040.

Hearts Apart – Let’s Get Wild at the Zoo!

Tucson Meet Yourself Festival Volunteer Orientation

Oct. 3, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Airman & Family Readiness Center

Personnel interested in volunteering for this year’s Tucson Meet Yourself Festival on Oct. 12-14 are invited to attend a special volunteer presentation. Ms Hillary Walker, TMY Program Director, will provide a briefing about the festival and volunteer opportunities available. For more information, call 228-5690.

WIC Presentation

Oct. 4, 1-2 p.m. – Airman & Family Readiness Center

Come learn more about WIC, a free, federally-funded nutrition program.  Participants may be eligible for free groceries, free baby formula, and/or assistance with a breast pump rental. A WIC representative will be here to give a presentation about the program, including benefits and eligibility requirements. Please RVSP at 228-5690.

National Disability Employment Awareness Month Resource Fair

Oct. 11, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. – Mirage Club

This free fair is open to everyone with base access.  Come and learn more about what on and off-base resources are available for individuals with disabilities.  This is also a great opportunity to learn about community volunteer opportunities! Please RVSP at 228-5690.

International Spouse Group Hobby & Business Expo

Oct. 11, 5:30-7:30 p.m. – Airman & Family Readiness Center

Time to show off and showcase your cottage business, talent, or favorite hobby to other international spouses. This is a great opportunity for spouses born in other countries to make friends, learn about DM, and share their culture with others. Children welcome! Please RVSP at 228-5690.
