Intersection to Close

Oct. 8 – 12, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. – Southeast intersection of Phoenix and Mike Flores St.

The intersection will reopen from 4 p.m. until 6 a.m. Drivers can take an alternate route from Yuma St. to Ben White St. to Phoenix St. No building parking lots will be affected or inaccessible during this time.

 

National Disability Employment Awareness Month Resource Fair

Oct. 11, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. – Mirage Club

This free fair is open to everyone with base access.  Come and learn more about what on and off-base resources are available for individuals with disabilities.  This is also a great opportunity to learn about community volunteer opportunities! Please RVSP at 228-5690.

 

International Spouse Group Hobby & Business Expo

Oct. 11, 5:30-7:30 p.m. – Airman & Family Readiness Center

Time to show off and showcase your cottage business, talent, or favorite hobby to other international spouses. This is a great opportunity for spouses born in other countries to make friends, learn about DM, and share their culture with others. Children welcome! Please RVSP at 228-5690.

 

Society of Military Widows to meet

Oct. 20, Noon – Atria Bell Court Gardens, 6653 E.Carondelet.

The Society of Military Widows will meet for a luncheon at noon the 3rd Saturday of the month. For your reservations, please call Virginia Lind Sanborn at 721-8091, 10 days prior to the meeting

 

Military Officers Association of America to meet

The Military Officers Association of America meets for a business meeting lunch or dinner, and program on the fourth Wednesday of each month from September through May (except November).  Military officers, active duty, reserve or retired, are eligible to attend.  Our next meeting is Sept. 26, at Tanque Verde Guest Ranch; Topic includes guest political speakers.  For more information or to make reservations, please contact Major Roy Ludlow at 449-0410, three days prior to the meeting.

Volunteers are needed in a variety of areas on D-M and in the local community. Volunteering is an excellent way to become involved with the community, increase mentorship skills and enhance career growth.

FREE Employment & Computer Skills Classes 

Thanks to a grant from the Air Force Aid Society, the Airman & Family Readiness Center has partnered with Pima Community College to offer free employment and computer skills classes to Spouses of Active Duty Air Force personnel assigned to Davis-Monthan AFB.

Employment Readiness Skills 

Oct. 15 – Oct. 18, 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. – Airman & Family Readiness Center (Bldg 2441)

Includes values skills identification, interest and personality assessment, career search strategies, communication skills, self/career management skills, and employability skills, including rÈsumÈ preparation and basic interview competencies.
