Since early September, The Loft has been under renovation, but it is now scheduled to re-open for dormitory Airmen in early November.
Construction on The Loft began a few months after receiving the base received the Commander in Chief Annual Award for Installation Excellence (CINC award) money.
“We received money from the CINC award so we have enough to do some serious renovations,” said Chaplain (Capt.) Charles Hollstein, 355th Fighter Wing.
The renovations included new walls, tile, carpet, and countertops along with new furniture, 80 inch and 60 inch televisions, and a pool table.
“Our goal is to take a good program and make it better,” Hollstein said. “In our program, we have leaders who come up with ideas for programs; who have a real say so in what we do. They have a vision as well for The Loft to be an excellent, awesome place to go and be a haven from work.”
Airman 1st Class Veronique Allen, Loft Council president, has been a regular at The Loft for about three months. She feels at ease connecting with other Airmen as well as enjoying things she likes to do. “I enjoy everything about it,” said Allen. “I don’t have cable, so I go up there to use the cable. Also, I like to play the drums. There are also a lot of people up there, so there’s the ability to connect with other Airmen. Those are definitely the strong points of The Loft.”
