For any enlisted Airman, achieving the rank of chief master sergeant can often be the pinnacle of their military career. Of all enlisted Airmen, only one percent will ever make the rank of chief master sergeant during their time in the military. Those Airmen who hold the grade of E-9 are the cream of the crop of the enlisted military force. The promotions list for chief master sergeant was released Nov. 8.
Out of the 1,981 eligible senior master sergeants for promotion, 454 were selected or about 22.9 percent. From the 454, the Desert Lightning Team had nine Airmen who will become chief master sergeants.
“I’m very pleased with our Airmen who were selected for promotion to chief master sergeant,” said Chief Master Sgt. Dawna Cnota, 355th Fighter Wing command chief. “This is a momentous event in their lives, and it is because of the hard work and dedication throughout their entire military career that they are able to reach this rank.”
