Have you been facing tough financial times lately? If so, you should come to the Airman’s Attic where you can find things such as pre-owned uniforms, dishes, furniture and much more.
“The Airman’s Attic is a way to help Airmen that don’t have the funds to purchase the full priced items, but have a need for them,” said Master Sgt. Tibetha Pascal, 355th Force Support Squadron base lodging superintendent. “From my personal experience, when I was an Airmen and a single mom, it was a place to go to get things for my son that I couldn’t afford.”
Although the Airman’s Attic is primarily filled with donations from Airmen, there are occasionally brand new items available. The Combined Federal Campaign gives funding to the Airman’s Attic, which is then used to purchase new items, like a 52-inch TV that was recently raffled off.
Donations are always welcome and can be dropped off in the storage units just outside of the Airmen’s Attic. When dropping off donations, make sure to place the items in a secure spot. This will ensure safety for the volunteers and the best quality of donated items.
If you are looking to get involved and help other Airmen on base, then volunteering is a great opportunity. The Airman’s Attic is always looking for new volunteers and welcomes anyone willing to help out.
“I enjoy knowing that I was that Airman, living through this and having to use the Airman’s Attic,” Pascal said. “It gives me great pride in giving back to Airmen in need.”
The Airman’s Attic is open every Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. for volunteers only. It is open to the public, as well as volunteers, on Thursdays from 5-7 p.m. and the third Saturday of the month from 9-11 a.m.
The Airman’s Attic is located next the Airman and Family Readiness Center.
