Opening doors for fun and recreation

Outdoor Recreation and Information, Tickets, and Tours held an open house Nov. 14, 2012 to showcase what they offer.

Many of ODR and ITT’s services go unused. Many people do not even know both services share the same building. To combat this issue, the recreation specialists put together an open house to show the base public what they have to offer.

“We offer a lot of things through ODR and ITT,” said Rikki Rossow, 355th Force Support Squadron recreation specialist. “We did the open house to show everyone what kind of equipment ODR has and the types of tickets ITT offers.”

Outdoor Recreation has rental equipment for outdoor adventurers of all levels. They have standard riding bikes, mountain bikes, tandem bikes, and even bikes with carriages for those that have younger children. There are tents, campers, canoes, and more. Even more equipment is expected to come later.

Information, Tickets, and Tours has ticket deals to many tourists and vacation locales around the country. Several deals are reserved for active military members, but most deals are available to anyone with a military identification card.

Outdoor Recreation also manages several locations on base. They manage the outdoor pool, which is opened during the summer, the indoor pool, the skeet range, and the paintball range to name a few. Locations, such as the paintball range, can be reserved for use and come with the necessary equipment as needed by individuals.

If you are looking to meet new people with similar interests or just take a fun trip with some friends, ODR also manages the Single Airman Initiative Program trips. These are trips that revolve around being more active. The trips range from indoor rock climbing to all-terrain vehicle adventures and are open to anyone with a military ID.

So, if you are looking for something to do on the weekend or are planning a vacation, you may want to stop by ODR and ITT first.
