Boots On Boots Off

D-M hosted “Boots On Boots Off” at Desert Lightning City, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Dec. 10, 2012. The event was a joint effort between D-M, the Naval Reserve Center and the local chapter of Operation Military Kids.

Children participated in a mock deployment designed to give them insight into what their parents experience during real-world deployments.

Upon arrival, the children were led through a processing line where they received items such as backpacks, water bottles and “immunizations” which were candy shots and pills.

Participants toured trucks, learned how to stand in formation, and ran an obstacle course. The course required children to scale hurtles, zig-zag through poles, and low crawl through tunnels. The event also featured a processing line, and medical tent. The children received greasepaint in the medical tent, and shown emergency medical equipment, such as splints and bandages.
