Duty Title: Aircraft Structural Maintenance Journeyman

When Joined the AF:  September, 2001

Hometown: Willits, CA

Hobbies: Poker, working out, hiking, fishing, softball and off-roading.

Selection Reasons:  Airman Gunter is a reservist embedded in the 355 EMS aircraft structural maintenance shop. He supervised the flight line dispatch team that repaired 100+ sheet metal discrepancies and ensured over 3000 A-10 sorties accumulating in over 6000 flying hours this past year. SrA Gunter is a respected trainer in the shop; teaching key fabrication tasks to apprentice level airmen which saved 50 active duty man hours. In addition, SrA Gunter built storage racks to safely secure aircraft parts before and after repairs.

Airman Gunter is a highly motivated professional and youth mentor in the local community. He always volunteers for the tough jobs and completes all tasks on time with a high level of quality. His dedication to the 924 FG associate unit mission has greatly added to our success and we are proud of him and his accomplishments. Airman Gunter is an exceptional airman that embodies Total Force Integration!

 

Airman 1st Class Jenna Schaub / 355th Civil Engineer Squadron

First Sergeant: Master Sgt. Walter Fortenberry

Duty Title: Emergency Management Journeyman

When Joined the AF:  Jan. 11, 2011

Hometown: Traverse City, Michigan

Hobbies: Helping out at local animal shelter, hanging out with friends, camping, moonlit walks on the beach and listening to Justin Bieber

Selection Reasons: Airman Schaub suited up and responded to a real-world HAZMAT event in which she identified a suspicious liquid at a local elementary school and safeguarded 500 students and faculty.  She also activated and managed the Readiness Support Team and Contamination Control Team through coordination with the Augmentee Duty Program and eliminated a 4 year base shortfall.  Additionally, Airman Schaub developed the 2012 Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives course schedule by building 129 classes and assigning instructors that trained over 3500 military personnel.

Airman Schaub worked ambitiously towards her CCAF degree and completed 7 college credit hours.  She also donated over 40 hours to Habitat for Humanity, Animal Shelter, Food Bank, “Boots On Boots Off,” and the CES Booster Club garnering a total of $1,800.   She is an outstanding airman who continues to go above and beyond the call of her rank and sets the bar for her peers.

 

Airman 1st Class Matthew Lillegard/ 355th Force Support Squadron

Duty Title: Storeroom Clerk

Selection Reasons: Airman Lillegard has been instrumental in the re-opening of the dining facility after a $3.9M renovation. As an Airman with two months in FSS, he was awarded the position of storeroom clerk, which is a position normally held by a senior airman or staff sergeant. He ensured the order of $19.5K in subsistence was placed, received, and accounted for in preparation for the grand opening of the Dining Facility. Furthermore, he was a key player in the movement of over 4.5 tons of equipment from storage warehouses to the dining facility which saved the AF $30K in contractor fees.

Airman Lillegard is also an active member of the base and squadron. He volunteered to assist in setting up for the Haunted Gym competition which resulted in raising $1.5K.  He was the volunteer POC for the Best of the West Basketball competition rallying 15 members and raising over $300. Airman Lillegard is currently enrolled in his CDC’s and has already received a perfect score of 100% on Volume One practice test!

 

Staff Sgt. Ian Reyes – 12th Air Force

Duty Title: JWICS Information Systems Security Manager

When Joined the AF:  Dec. 17, 2002

Hometown: San Diego, CA

Hobbies: Camping, Fishing, Hanging out with his eight month old sons

Selection Reasons: Sergeant Reyes has done an outstanding job as the Davis-Monthan site 10 Information System Security Manager, which is a position normally filled by a master sergeant. In response to the Intelligence Community Standard (ICS) 500-25, SSgt Reyes distinguished himself by leading 19 Davis-Monthan Information System Security Officers and 500 JWICS users through the mandated ICS Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) enrollment.  PKI is extremely important to network security because it provides data integrity and deters misuse while assisting in lawful government investigations.

Sergeant Reyes also coordinated the annual Committee on National Security Systems (CNSSI) JWICS account audit, which is required by the CNSSI-1253, Access Control 2, Account Management.  During the audit, almost 20% of all JWICS accounts were disabled which enhances network management by ensuring user’s need to know and justification for mission access are up-to-date. Sergeant Reyes ensures the task is completed right the first time in a very professional manner.
