Focus on Fathering Workshops – Airman & Family Readiness Center 

In partnership with United Way of Tucson and First Things First, the Easter Seals Blake Foundation introduces Focus on Fathering – a group for dads about being a dad. Workshops will be held on Fridays, from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Learn about the importance of being a dad and getting more involved with your child. Sign up for one or all remaining workshops:

Brain Waves for Fathers

Davis-Monthan AFB Toastmasters Speech Contest

The D-M “Firemouth” Toastmasters Club invites all personnel to the “Keep the Fire Burning” Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contest on Thurs, Feb. 14, from 12-1 p.m. in the Airman and Family Readiness Center, Building 2441, Room 148. Reintegration & Welcome Home Banner Event

Feb. 25, 5-6:30 p.m. – Airman & Family Readiness Center

Is your deployed loved one coming home soon?  Come out and join us for a Reintegration & Welcome Home Banner making event. Food and drinks will be available along with all supplies. Call 228-5690 to RSVP.

Newcomers Base In-processing Location Change

Base In-processing will now be held at the Mirage Club in the “Sahuaro Room” beginning Feb. 1. Base in-processing will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7:30 a.m.; base in-processing will not be conducted the last Wednesday of every month. Please free to contact 355 FSS/Customer Support Office at 228-1819 with any questions you may have.

Key Spouse Networking Potluck

Feb. 27, 6-7:30 p.m. – Airman & Family Readiness Center

Spouses are invited to meet squadron Key Spouses and learn more about how to become involved in the squadron.  Bring a potluck dish to share.  Please RSVP at 228-5690.

Sensory Processing Disorder

Feb. 28, 5:30-7 p.m. – Airman & Family Readiness Center

Many children have problems with sensory integration.  Learn more through this interactive special presentation.  Participants will gain useful strategies on how to help kids overcome challenges caused by over- or under-sensitivity.

Basketball Coaches Needed

The D-M Youth Center is in need of basketball coaches for ages 5/6 and 7/8 years.  Season runs thru Mar. 16. Training will be provided. If you are interested please call 228-8844/8390 or e-mail Kathy.sands@dm.af.mil.

Stay and Play

Wednesdays, 9:30-11 a.m. – Desert Dove Chapel

This is a new program for parents and children ages birth to five years. Features open play-time, parent-child activities, circle time, parenting support and education. Registration is not required. For more information, call 321-1500.

Social Skills Classes

There are still funds to provide scholarships to families interested in enrolling their children in social skills classes.  These classes are designed for children K- middle school, with high functioning autism, Asperger’s ADHD, SPD or learning disabilities.  The next classes will run March-May 2013.  For more information and an application form, call Tiffany at 228-5690.

STOMP Training

The Air Force is funding a training program for military families, Specialized Training of Military Parents (STOMP).  They will be here at D-M March 14-15.  If you have a child with special needs, you are highly encouraged to attend. For more information, call 228-5690.

NARFE Chapter 55 to Meet

The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Association, Chapter 55, will hold their monthly luncheon meeting on February 11, at the U-Like Buffet, 330 South Wilmot Road, Tucson, AZ 85711.  The luncheon starts at 11 a.m. and ends about 1:30 p.m.  There will be a speaker, Aaron Sanchez, Activities Director, Morris Udall, followed by a business meeting. Current and retired Federal employees, their spouses, guests and visitors are welcome. Attendees pay for their lunch, usually less than $10. For further information please call 751-2017.

Investing 101

Feb. 26, 9-10 a.m. and 11 a.m.-noon – Airman & Family Readiness Center

This class is designed to provide objective and general investing information. If you have an emergency savings and are ready to take it to the next level, this class is for you. Please RSVP at 228-5690.

Money Habitudes 

Feb. 26, 1-2 p.m. – Airman & Family Readiness Center

Is money the problem? No, it’s money habitudes! Your habits and attitudes about money combined that actually cause the problems. Identify your habitudes and those of others to understand why people argue about money. When you get a handle on your habitudes you will take control of your money and your life. Thrift Savings Plan (TSP)

Learn why the Thrift Savings Plan has been called the Model for all 401(k) Plans! No matter the amount of time you plan on serving in the Air Force (military or civilian) the TSP is a savings and retirement plan that you will thank yourself for contributing to when you reach your retirement age.
