Free pre-screening of “Inside Combat Rescue” Feb. 8

355th Fighter Wing Public Affairs

The Air Force has only about 600 combat rescue personnel. D-M hosts two elite combat rescue groups, the active duty 563rd Rescue Group and the Air

Force Reserve’s 943rd Rescue Group. They are both comprised of operational, support, and maintenance Airmen and “Guardian Angels” formally known as

pararescuemen. They are trained to extract isolated personnel from combat zones, under extreme conditions, but have also been called upon to assist in

local rescue operations as well.

National Geographic’s “Inside Combat Rescue” is based on a first-of-its-kind media embed of a five-man Nat Geo television crew with Air Force pararescuemen, during combat operations at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan. The six-episode series is set to air in February 2013.

The Base Theater will be holding a pre-screening of the first episode at the Base Theater Friday, Feb. 8 at 3 p.m. The pre-screening is open to all base personnel and those who have base access.
