Focus on Fathering Workshops

Airman & Family Readiness Center

In partnership with United Way of Tucson and First Things First, the Easter Seals Blake Foundation introduces Focus on Fathering – a group for dads about being a dad. Workshops will be held on Fridays, from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Learn about the importance of being a dad and getting more involved with your child. Sign up for one or all remaining workshops:

Brain Waves for Fathers

Davis-Monthan AFB Toastmasters Speech Contest 

Thurs, Feb. 14, noon-1 p.m. – Airman and Family Readiness Center

The D-M “Firemouth” Toastmasters Club invites all personnel to the “Keep the Fire Burning” Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contest on Thurs, Feb. 14, from 12-1 p.m. in the Airman and Family Readiness Center, Building 2441, Room 148. Key Spouse Networking Potluck

Sensory Processing Disorder

**NEW DATE & TIME** Tues, Feb. 19, 9-11 a.m. – Airman & Family Readiness Center

Many children have problems with sensory integration.  Learn more through this interactive special presentation.  Participants will gain useful strategies on how to help kids overcome challenges caused by over- or under-sensitivity. Please preregister for this workshop at 228-5690.

Stay and Play

Wednesdays, 9:30-11 a.m. – Desert Dove Chapel

This is a new program for parents and children ages birth to five years. Features open play-time, parent-child activities, circle time, parenting support and education. Registration is not required. For more information, call 321-1500.

Social Skills Classes

There are still funds to provide scholarships to families interested in enrolling their children in social skills classes.  These classes are designed for children K- middle school, with high functioning autism, Asperger’s ADHD, SPD or learning disabilities.  The next classes will run March-May 2013.  For more information and an application form, call Tiffany at 228-5690.

STOMP Training

The Air Force is funding a training program for military families, Specialized Training of Military Parents (STOMP).  They will be here at D-M March 14-15.  If you have a child with special needs, you are highly encouraged to attend. For more information, call 228-5690.

Newcomers Base In-processing Location Change

Base In-processing will now be held at the Mirage Club in the “Sahuaro Room” beginning Feb. 1. Base in-processing will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7:30 a.m.; base in-processing will not be conducted the last Wednesday of every month. Please free to contact 355 FSS/Customer Support Office at 228-1819 with any questions you may have.

NARFE Chapter 55 to Meet

The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Association, Chapter 55, will hold their monthly luncheon meeting on February 11, at the U-Like Buffet, 330 South Wilmot Road, Tucson, AZ 85711.  The luncheon starts at 11 a.m. and ends about 1:30 p.m.  There will be a speaker, Aaron Sanchez, Activities Director, Morris Udall, followed by a business meeting. Current and retired Federal employees, their spouses, guests and visitors are welcome. Attendees pay for their lunch, usually less than $10. For further information please call 751-2017.

Divorce in Arizona & Child Support

Learn how to file for divorce in Arizona plus get up-to-date Child Support info from the AZ Attorney General’s Division of Child Support. Please RSVP at 228-5690.

Military Saves Week Savings Competition 

Take the pledge to save or cut up a credit card during Military Saves Week, Feb. 25-Mar. 1, 2013. The two units with the most pledges or most weight in cut up credit cards will be rewarded. See your unit Desert Lightning Team – Military Saves Representative for more details.

Military Saves Week A&FRC Visits  

Each visit to the Airman & Family Readiness Center during Military Saves Week will allow you a drawing entry for a savings themed gift basket! For more information, call 228-5690.

Entrance Procedures:  • Anyone with a military ID, to include active duty, dependent, and reserve may park at the 355th Medical Group or the Mirage Club and ride free shuttles to the event entrance.
