Outdoor Recreation here is giving Airmen an opportunity to participate in outdoor activities around Arizona through the Single Airmen Initiative program.

SAI is an Air Force-wide program that allows each base a set amount of money during phases to provide Airmen an opportunity to have fun at a low-cost.

There are 4 phases in year, said Jennifer States, 355th Force Support Squadron Outdoor Recreation programmer. Each phase is about three months long.

SAI offers a large variety of activities to include horseback riding, tandem skydiving, pilot flight training, rock climbing, kayaking and more. SAI is designed to meet the needs and interests of the Airman community.

“Our most popular event is skydiving,” States said. “There is always a waiting list for skydiving, so that is our most common activity.”

The program targets single, active-duty or reserve, officer or enlisted members without dependents. However, the program is open to all patrons authorized to use FSS programs.

The SAI program is held year round with different activities to accommodate the seasons. Outdoor Recreation tries to offer at least one event per month.

For more information about the SAI program, contact Outdoor Recreation at 228-3736.
