DM Thrift Shop now open

DM Thrift Shop reopened on August 6th!  Come check out our new merchandise including a variety of Longaberger Baskets and dishes.  We are open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9-2 p.m. and the first Saturday of every month from 9 a.m.- noon. Consignments are Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:00-12:30 and on the first Saturday from 9 -11:15 a.m. Donations are accepted 24 hours a day 7 days a week, please place items inside the donation room.  Our address is 5085 Flora St., Bldg. 1226, 228-2120.

Retired Officers’ Spouses Club

The Tucson Retired Officers’ Spouses Club will hold its first luncheon of the season on Thursday, Sept. 5 at Radisson Suites Tucson, 6555 E. Speedway Blvd., located just east of Wilmot Rd. The luncheon will be held in the private dining room on the east end of the building.   Social hour begins at 11 a.m., with lunch served at noon.  The price of the luncheon is $22.00.  Reservations and meal selections are due by noon Monday, Sept. 2 by calling Virginia Gearhart, 290-8286 or Rita Dennis, 577-1741.

National Active and Retired Federal Employees to meet

The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Association, Chapter 55, will hold their monthly luncheon meeting Sept. 9, at the U-Like Buffet, 330 South Wilmot Road, Tucson, AZ 85711.  The luncheon starts at 11 a.m. and ends about 1:30 p.m.  There will be a presentation followed by a business meeting. Current and retired Federal employees, their spouses, guests and visitors are welcome. Attendees pay for their lunch, usually less than $10. For further information please call 751-2017.

Society of Military Widows to meet

The Society of Military Widows will meet for their monthly luncheon at noon, Aug. 17 at the The Mirage  at DM AFB. For your reservations, please call Kay Spargur 574-6628 at least a week prior to the luncheon.

Changes to Early Intervention

The referral process to the Arizona Early Intervention Program (AZEIP) has changed.  Families who have a child between the ages of birth and three who suspect a significant developmental delay (or have a known medical condition that will result in disability) can call 1-888-592-0140.

Money on the Road Program

Money on the Road is an Airman & Family Readiness program designed to bring financial readiness/counseling TO YOUR unit! Our counselors can teach classes and be available for one-on-one counseling or to answer general questions.  We tailor our visit to your unit specific needs. You provide a temporary location for us and we provide efficient financial counseling services. If your unit is interested in our Money on the Road program, please call us at 228-5690.

PLAYpass available at the Airman & Family Readiness Center 

The PLAYpass Program provides deployed/remote Single Airmen and Air Force families respite from the challenges of deployment. Single Airmen returning from deployment and families of deployed members can receive special discounts and rewards to help make their deployment easier. PLAYpass offers discount cards that provide members and eligible family members the opportunity to participate in Force Support Squadron programs (e.g., Outdoor Recreation, Youth Programs, Bowling, Golf) for free or at a reduced cost.  Each card is valued in excess of $500. PLAYpass cards may be picked up at the Airman & Family Readiness Center, Bldg 2441, from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Mon-Thurs. Scheduled power outage

There will be a scheduled electrical outage on Aug. 17, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., for the following buildings: 5303, 5301, 5309, 5314, 5315, 5305, 5318, 5329 and 5320. The outage is required to accommodate new electrical service to Bldg. 5313. Please contact Jason Mennella at 228-3481 if you have any questions.

Café 54 to hold art show

Café 54 cordially invites you to the Art Foundation’s artist reception for the exhibition “Culturing Creativity” on Saturday, August 10, from 5-8 p.m. This celebration of artists will feature live music, a wearable art fashion show, performance art, food and refreshments. A raffle featuring prizes donated by local artists and businesses benefiting the Café 54 Art Foundation will also be held. The event is open to the public and admission is free.

The Café 54 Art Foundation was established to provide and assist individuals recovering from mental illness the opportunity to express themselves through the creative arts. Art supply scholarships are available to individuals recovering from mental illness who are currently working with Behavioral Health Programs, and show desire to express him or herself through the visual arts.
