Army soldiers participate in the U.S. Army Basic Combatives Course. In the course, participants learned basic hand-to-hand combat techniques. The 40-hour course is scheduled to be taught once a quarter. Participants need to be present from beginning to end; thus, they would need to be released from their work centers for a week.

Practice weapons for the U.S. Army Basic Combatives Course lay on the floor of the basketball court in the Benko Fitness and Sports Center. Participants from the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force used the weapons to practice techniques taught during the course.
