Staff Sgt. James R. Dillahunt / 355 SFS/S3OA

Name/Squadron: Staff Sgt. James R. Dillahunt / 355 SFS/S3OA

First Sergeant:  Master Sgt. John Brown

Duty Title: BDOC Controller

When joined the AF: Aug. 30, 2005

Hometown: Terre Haute, Indiana

Hobbies:  Sports – Baseball/ Football

Selection Reasons:

On July 4, 2013, Staff Sgt. Dillahunt was posted as crowd control during the fireworks display at Bama Park. At that time, Sergeant Dillahunt went above and beyond the call of duty and demonstrated his warrior ethos. During Col. Blanchard’s speech, a 60 year old female began suffering from dizziness/light headedness and feeling faint. Sergeant Dillahunt leaped into action by clearing the area of non-essential personnel, contacting first responders and gathering all pertinent information for immediate transport of the individual. Furthermore, Seregant Dillahunt demonstrated selfless service and attention to detail when upon termination of his shift at the fireworks display he immediately responded to BDOC and ensured the on-duty controller was aware of the information he was provided, which led to a seamless transition from completion of the 4th of July fireworks back to day-to-day operations.
