Summary courts officer notice for Gabriel R. Garza

It is with deep regret that we announce the unexpected death of Master Sgt. Gabriel R. Garza, 355th Component Maintenance Squadron, Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz. Capt. John R. Ware, 355th CMS, is detailed as Summary Court Officer to secure and make proper disposition of the personal property and effects of Sergeant Garza. Retired Officers’ Spouses Club

Thursday, Nov. 7, 11 a.m. – Old Pueblo Grille Restaurant, 60 N. Alvernon Way

The Tucson Retired Officers’ Spouses Club will hold its next monthly luncheon meeting on Nov. 7 at Old Pueblo Grille Restaurant, 60 N. Alvernon Way, located one block north of Broadway Blvd.  Social hour begins at 11 a.m., with lunch served at noon. Special guest speaker will be Lisa Hopper, Founder and CEO of World Care Civilian Emergency Relief Center. The price of the luncheon is $20.  Reservations and entrée choice are due by noon, Nov. 4 by calling LaVae Wight, 297-3865 or Jeanne Ringgenberg, 296-6844.  Any spouse or widow of a retired military officer is invited to join. Society of Military Widows to meet

The Society of Military Widows will have their meeting and a Thanksgiving luncheon at noon, Nov. 16 at the Mirage Club at D.M. Air Force Base. For your reservations, please call Kay Spargur 574-6628 ten days prior to the luncheon.

NARFE Association, Chapter 55 to meet

The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Association, Chapter 55, will hold their monthly luncheon meeting on November 11, 2013, at the U-Like Buffet, 330 South Wilmot Road, Tucson, AZ 85711.  The luncheon starts at 11 a.m. and ends about 1:30 p.m.  There will be a presentation followed by a business meeting. Current and retired Federal employees, their spouses, guests and visitors are welcome. Attendees pay for their lunch, usually less than $10. For further information please call 751-2017.

Love & Logic Parenting Classes

Would you like to learn skills for raising responsible children?  Love & Logic makes parenting fun rather than frantic.  FREE Love & Logic classes are being offered at Borman Elementary School on D-M.  Classes will run from Nov. 6 – Dec. 19, from 3-5 p.m.  Free child care will be available for ages 3 and up (to 5th grade). Money on the Road Program

Money on the Road is an Airman & Family Readiness program designed to bring financial readiness/counseling TO YOUR unit! Our counselors can teach classes and be available for one-on-one counseling or to answer general questions.  We tailor our visit to your unit specific needs. You provide a temporary location for us and we provide efficient financial counseling services. If your unit is interested in our Money on the Road program, please call us at 228-5690.

Volunteers are needed in a variety of areas on D-M and in the local community. Volunteering is an excellent way to become involved with the community, increase mentorship skills and enhance career growth. Stay and Play

Wednesdays, 9:30-11 a.m. – Desert Dove Chapel

This is a new program for parents and children ages birth to five years. Features open play-time, parent-child activities, circle time, parenting support and education. Registration is not required. For more information, call 321-1500.

 

PLAYpass gives Airmen up to $1,000 in discounts!

The PLAYpass program provides Air Force Families and Single Airmen a relief from the challenges of separation caused by deployments and dependent restricted assignments. The Family PLAYpass cards are issued to those that meet the eligibility requirements. The first card is issued when the member is deployed, or on a dependent restricted assignment, and is valid while the member is gone, plus an additional 90 days after they return. The second family card is issued upon return from the member’s deployment and is valid for 90 days after the return date. The Single Airmen PLAYpass card is issued upon return from deployment and expires 90 days after they return. Single Airmen can also bring a friend along to share in the amazing benefits!

Use Your PLAYpass Card at these Participating Facilities:

Arts & Crafts (228-4385) – Classes and lessons, Pick It and Paint It

Auto Hobby Shop (228-3614) – Stall usage

D-M Lanes (228-3461) – Hook Up to Bowling lessons, 20 game bowling card, birthday parties, specialty programs such as New Year’s Eve, and Bowling with Santa

Child Development Center & Family Child Care (228-6463/3336) – Hourly child care

Blanchard Golf Course (228-5879) – Daily green fees, annual green fees, golf lessons, and the U.S. Kids Golf Program

Outdoor Recreation (228-3736) – Annual pool passes, swim lessons, equipment rental, and trips

Youth Programs (228-8844) – Annual membership, instructional classes, sports registration, trips and outings

Call each facility for additional discount opportunities. The card cannot be used for food, beverages, or merchandise. All PLAYpass cards are issued at the Airman & Family Readiness Center in Bldg. 2441 (6th & Granite St).
