D-M men’s softball team to hold tryouts

Nov. 7 – 8, 4:30 p.m.
The men’s base softball team is scheduled to hold tryouts at the fields located behind the 12th Air Force headquarters building, Nov. 7-8 at 4:30 p.m. There will be 25 players selected to the team roster. Practices will be held weekly and the season is slated to start in either December or January. Individual games and tournaments will be played in Arizona, California and Nevada, as well as the military world tournament in Florida. For more information about tryouts, contact Master Sgt. BX Gift Wrapping Fundraiser Lottery

All interested non-profit organizations MUST be present in order to randomly draw for dates. Sorry, there are no requests for dates. Each organization will be granted one day. You can do half days as well. Only one representative from each organization is necessary to participate.

DMOSC November Luncheon

Thursday, Nov. 21, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m – Mirage Club
Join us for our “Giving Thanks” luncheon on Nov. 21 at the Mirage Club.  Give thanks by bringing bags of non-perishable food items for Operation Warmheart: benefiting families in need on our base.  Please RSVP by Nov. 18 to dmosc.org.

NARFE Association, Chapter 55 to meet

Monday, Nov. 11, 11 a.m. – U-Like Buffet
The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Association, Chapter 55, will hold their monthly luncheon meeting on Nov. 11, at the U-Like Buffet, 330 South Wilmot Road, Tucson, AZ 85711. The luncheon starts at 11 a.m. and ends about 1:30 p.m. There will be a presentation followed by a business meeting. Current and retired Federal employees, their spouses, guests and visitors are welcome. Attendees pay for their lunch, usually less than $10. For further information please call 751-2017.

Stay and Play

Wednesdays, 10-11:30 a.m. – Desert Dove Chapel
This is a new program for parents and children ages birth to five years. Features open play-time, parent-child activities, circle time, parenting support and education. Registration is not required. For more information, call 321-1500.

Love & Logic Parenting Classes

Would you like to learn skills for raising responsible children? Love & Logic makes parenting fun rather than frantic. FREE Love & Logic classes are being offered at Borman Elementary School on D-M. Classes will run from Nov. 6 – Dec. 19, from 3-5 p.m. Free child care will be available for ages 3 and up (to 5th grade). Please call 520-584-4618 to sign up.

Money on the Road Program

Money on the Road is an Airman & Family Readiness program designed to bring financial readiness/counseling TO YOUR unit! Our counselors can teach classes and be available for one-on-one counseling or to answer general questions.  We tailor our visit to your unit specific needs. You provide a temporary location for us and we provide efficient financial counseling services. If your unit is interested in our Money on the Road program, please call us at 228-5690.

Scheduled Power Outage

There will be a scheduled electrical outage Nov. 9 from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. This outage is in conjunction with the AMARG Hangar construction project to place a new electrical power pole and tie existing infrastructure, electrical lines. The following buildings will be affected:

PLAYpass gives Airmen up to $1,000 in discounts!

The PLAYpass program provides Air Force Families and Single Airmen a relief from the challenges of separation caused by deployments and dependent restricted assignments. The Family PLAYpass cards are issued to those that meet the eligibility requirements. The first card is issued when the member is deployed, or on a dependent restricted assignment, and is valid while the member is gone, plus an additional 90 days after they return. The second family card is issued upon return from the member’s deployment and is valid for 90 days after the return date. The Single Airmen PLAYpass card is issued upon return from deployment and expires 90 days after they return. Single Airmen can also bring a friend along to share in the amazing benefits!

Use Your PLAYpass Card at these Participating Facilities:

Arts & Crafts (228-4385) – Classes and lessons, Pick It and Paint It

Auto Hobby Shop (228-3614) – Stall usage

D-M Lanes (228-3461) – Hook Up to Bowling lessons, 20 game bowling card, birthday parties, specialty
programs such as New Year’s Eve, and Bowling with Santa

Blanchard Golf Course (228-5879) – Daily green fees, annual green fees, golf lessons, and the U.S.
