Airmen race on the row machines while competing in the fitness challenge at the Haeffner gym Jan. 17. The competitors are members of the CF Desert Lightning Team and are participating in the first quarterly challenge of the year.

Members of the Desert Lightning Team competed in a quarterly fitness challenge at the Haeffner fitness center, January 17. Nine contestants competed in a variety of exercises that tested both their endurance and strength.

The quarterly competition was hosted by the CF Desert Lightning team.

“The idea is to give people who are possibly interested in competing an avenue to try and see if it’s for them,” said SSgt Jordan Simmons, fitness trainer.

For anyone who is interested in competing or looking to learn more about cross-functional fitness, there are training sessions Monday through Friday at the Haeffner fitness center at 6 a.m. as well as Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4 p.m.
