CAF Day: Physical Pillar

This quarter’s Comprehensive Airman Fitness day, March 3, is focused on the physical pillar. This pillar emphasizes performing and excelling in physical activities that require aerobic fitness, endurance, strength, flexibility and body composition derived through exercise, nutrition and training.

The day’s agenda and various flyers are as followed: 

7 a.m. – 8 a.m.: NFL & COMBAT FITNESS CHALLENGE. Teams of five are invited to join Jarret Johnson, former University of Alabama two-time All-American and currently employed as outside linebacker for the San Diego Chargers, in tackling a challenging 200 yard course filled with physical challenges. POC: SSgt Reed, 228-4660

8 a.m. – 12 p.m.: FITNESS HIKE. Guided hike through Arizona’s natural scenic beauty. Bus transportation provided. POC: Chaplain Boyer, 228-5411

9 a.m. – 11 a.m.: CYCLING EXPEDITION. Supervised 14 mile bike ride. POC: SMSgt Yasenchack, 228-8021

10 a.m. – 11 a.m.: DM’s FASTEST RUNNER. Individual 1.5 mile competition; prize for the fastest male and female on DMAFB! POC: MSgt Haydee Mendoza, 228-1803

10 a.m. – 11 a.m.: MOTIVATIONAL SPEECH – JARRET JOHNSON. Come to the Mirage

Club to hear words of inspiration from a world class athlete, Jarret Johnson, San Diego Chargers linebacker! POCs: Capt Szweda, 228-9285 and TSgt Ignacio, 228-6558

10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: DM PT TRIATHLON. Teams of six compete in tandem push-ups (10 min), tandem sit-ups (10 min) and a 1.5 mile relay. Teams must include at least one female member. POC: MSgt Haydee Mendoza, 228-1803

12 p.m. – 1 p.m.: COOKING WITH THE BASE DIETICIAN. Get hands-on cooking experience on a healthy and delicious selection. POC: Cindy Davis, 228-3466.

1 p.m. – 2 p.m.: PT SESSION WITH JARRET JOHNSON. A challenging workout with an NFL star, held in our 355 MXG fitness facility. POCs: Capt Szweda, 228-9285 and TSgt Ignacio, 228-6558

1 p.m. – 4 p.m.: PHYSICAL RESILIENCE SEMINARS. Includes physical resilience, smoking cessation, and nutrition for performance, relaxation and cross fit! Various locations: Mirage Club, Health and Wellness Center, Haeffner and maintenance group gym. Call CMSgt Haywood, 228-7774, for specific information.

There will also be:

Boxing/MMA interactive demonstration at the Benko Fitness Center, 9 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Free massages at the Benko Fitness Center from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

A second Marine Warrior Challenge at 2 p.m.

Civilians and family members are both invited and welcome to participate in all CAF day events!
