Leaders Are Readers Book Club

Are you looking for some mentorship and development? Do you like to read? Then Leaders are Readers is for you! Our purpose is to enhance the professional growth of all Desert Lighting Team members through reading and mentoring. Leaders are Readers discuss leadership novels from the CSAF Reading List as well as other insightful novels. We meet twice a month and have meaningful discussions on key leadership concepts and experiences. All ranks are welcomed! This is a great opportunity to hear what your superiors and subordinates have to say. To improve yourself please join us at one of our sessions! We would love to hear from you! NARFE Chapter 1874 to meet

April 21, noon – 1 p.m. – Golden Corral Restaurant

Current and retired Federal employees, spouses, guests, and visitors are invited to join NARFE Chapter 1874 at the Golden Corral Restaurant, 6865 N. Thornydale Dr.  The April meeting will be Monday, April 21. (Senior menu $7.95)  Lunch starts at 11:30 a.m.  The meeting will be noon – 1 p.m.  The topic this month will be the nurse/advocate program. Contact Rosie King at 520-400-3456 for more information.

Society of Military Widows to meet

April 19, noon – Mirage Club

The Ladies of the Society of Military Widows will have their monthly meeting and luncheon Saturday, April 19, at noon  at the Mirage Club. For reservations and information, please call Kay Spurgur, 574-6628, at least ten days prior to the date of the luncheon.

Stay and Play

Wednesdays, 10-11:30 a.m. – Youth Center instruction room

This is a new program for parents and children ages birth to five years. Features open play-time, parent-child activities, circle time, parenting support and education. Registration is not required. For more information, call 321-1500.

The first annual Pat’s Run Troop Run at D-M scheduled for April 26

The ruck/walk/run will begin at the Benko Fitness Center and will be approximately 4.2 miles long. This event can be enjoyed by all family members! Cost of adults is $20 and children under 12 is $5. Deadline to register has been extended to April 14. A shirt will be provided upon registration. A representative will be at the Base Exchange April 2, 3, and 7 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. to assist with registrations.
