Air Force names new AFMC command chief

Air Force officials announced April 12, 2012, that Chief Master Sgt. Michael J. Warner will become Air Force Materiel Command’s new command chief.

Warner comes to AFMC from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, where he has served as 11th Air Force command chief master sergeant and senior enlisted leader of the Alaskan Command, Alaskan NORAD Region and Joint Task Force-Alaska since May 2010. He becomes the ninth AFMC command chief since the command was activated in 1992.

As the command chief, he will advise the commander and senior staff on matters concerning effective use, training, education and readiness of AFMC’s more than 13,000 enlisted Airmen.

Warner grew up in Denver, and started his military service in the United States Army Reserve as in infantryman in 1984. He entered the Air Force in March 1987. His background includes various duties as a security specialist, a first sergeant and a NCO Academy commandant. Prior to his assignment at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, he was the command chief master sergeant for the 18th Wing at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in organizational and human resource management and a Master of Arts degree in education.
