Col. Gregory Schwab, 95th Air Base Wing commander, and Robert Wood, Edwards Environmental Management chief, dedicate a Joshua Tree in front of the West Gate base sign May 2. The local tree was planted to commemorate Earth Day, which was observed in the middle of Spring Clean-up Week, April 30 to May 4.

Team Edwards wrapped up its week-long Spring Clean-up event May 4. Base residents, employees, squadrons and offices took time to clean up their areas, recycle old electronics, turn in hazardous waste and check out displays at the Base Exchange on Edwards Earth Day May 4. In all, the base collected 2,300 lbs of waste, including 300 lbs in electronic equipment.

Companies like Petra Solar also came out on Earth Day to promote their solar energy products.

Van Pool companies were also promoted during Edwards Earth Day activities in front of the Base Exchange. Government workers are eligible to apply for a voucher if they sign up for vanpooling.

Private power companies such as Southern California Edison, stopped by during Earth Day, May 2, to promote electricity and gas saving. This SCE bus was a moving classroom to show visitors ways to save energy.
