Effective May 16,the United States Postal Service will longer accept packages containing lithium batteries or electronic devices containing lithium batteries addressed to international destinations.

Clothing Drive

There will be a clothing drive for victims of sexual assault 11 a.m.-1 p.m., June 8 and 22 in the BX lobby.  Any slightly worn or new items are appreciated.

Many victims of sexual assault submit to a forensic examination in hopes of collecting DNA and evidence of their alleged assailant. They must give up all clothing during the procedure. Any evidence found is helpful in the conviction of the alleged assailant.

The Antelope Valley Forensic Services Unit, the office that performs the examinations, is in need of clothing items. They can only accept unisex, plain colored T-shirts (no logos, pictures or words) all sizes, unisex slip-on pants (sweatpants, jogging pants or scrubs sets (no logs or words) – all sizes.

No jeans, slacks, trousers, blouses or buttons up shirts will be accepted.

For more information, contact Kim Shirley, Edwards Sexual Assault Response Coordinator, at (661) 277-7272 or Katelin Sprague, (661) 277-4988.

Roadworks

Detours will be posted for motorist convenience. The new median turn pockets, new sidewalks, the drainage system improvements, and new traffic signal and signal upgrades will enhance safety and reduce congestion.
