The PLAYpass deadline has been extended through Dec. 31, 2012!!  If your spouse is deployed or you are a single airman returning from a deployment, then come to the A&FRC to get your PLAYpass and register!  PLAYpass discount cards are used for various activities and programs on base for adults and children.  For more information contact the A&FRC.

Airman and Family Readiness

Newcomers’ Orientation: June 14 and July 12, 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., at Club Muroc. Required for active duty military, the orientation provides vital information regarding base resources and services, policies and procedures, background and more. Registration is required. Spouses Newcomers’ Orientation: June 14 and July 12, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. , in the AFFTC Conference Center. This orientation is designed especially for spouses and provides valuable information regarding available services, schools, employment and volunteer opportunities, recreation, shopping and more. Free childcare is available as part of the Child Care for PCS program. Bring a copy of PCS orders to the Airman and Family Readiness to obtain a voucher and a list of home daycare providers. Hearts Apart: June 15 and July 20, 5-7 p.m., in the Chapel 1 Annex. Hearts Apart is a support group and social network for families of deployed members and an opportunity to meet with leadership. Sign-up is required.  For more information, call contact (661) 277-0722.

 

Arts and Crafts Center

Auto Hobby Oil Change Class: June 1 and 14, noon-1 p.m. Cost is $5. Bring your oil and oil filter for your vehicle and we will teach you how to change it.

Flag cases: As requested we now make custom size flag cases with certificate boxes. The cases are handmade in our wood shop by our wood shop instructor, Chuck. You can choose your own size, shape and type of wood (oak, walnut, maple, cherry and mahogany). These are truly a gift to treasure.

Pottery Parties: Cost: $20 per person—includes all tools, instruction and firing fees. Great for Birthdays parties, spouses groups, or anyone looking for something fun to do at Edwards. Each 3 hour party teaches the basics of working with clay while creating a fun hand built project (by appointment only).

Part Day Enrichment Summer Program: June 18-Aug. 10. The Child Development Center will offer a two-day program for 3-year olds and a three-day program for 4-5 year olds.  For more information and assistance, call Ms. Krista at (661) 275-TOTS.

Thursdays, Boss & Buddy: Only bosses can order our ‘2 Plus 2 special. If you are a boss, bring just one friend or the entire shop and treat them to $2 domestic drafts and 6-piece wings for $2.

Fridays in Fogleman’s: Join us from 5-6 p.m. for member’s only social hour food. Also available in Fogleman’s our Friday “Fish and Chips” basket, 5-7 p.m.

Evening Dining: Leave the cooking to us! Tuesdays-Fridays, 5-8 p.m.

Tuesday Family Night Buffets; Only on Tuesdays: $10.95 for adult members; $11.95 for adult non-members. Members only: With the purchase of an adult meal, up to two children (ages 6-10 years) can have a free meal from the Children’s Buffet (each additional child is $3.95 and all children under 6 years old are free). Non-Club Members: Children 6-10 years $4.95 and all other children under 6 $2. Buffet only—no other dining room menu available.

Every Wednesday, Santa Maria Barbecue Buffet: 5-8 p.m. Cost is $10.95 for adult members and $11.95 for adult non-members. Youth 13-17 are $8, and children under six years are free. Enjoy tender, slow-cooked Tri-Tip with salsa, baked seasoned chicken, garlic red potatoes, Santa Maria beans, macaroni and cheese, and our great salad bar.

Every Thursday: Barbecue Rib Buffet, 5-8 p.m. Cost is $10.95 for adult members, and $11.95 for adult non-members. Youth age 7-13 years are $8; children 6-12 years are $6; and children five and under are free.

Fridays Splash Night: June 8, 5-8 p.m. Pool opens at 5 p.m., grilling on the patio 5:30-8 p.m. Variety music 5-8 p.m., karaoke 8-10 p.m. Cost is $6 for adult members, $7 for non-members, hot dogs for kids are $3. Menu: Choice of sirloin steak or chicken breast, served with pork and beans, coleslaw, rolls, iced tea, water, lemonade. Have fun in our pool before or after dining on the patio!

‘Roll In The Dough’ Summer Program: June 1-Aug. 24, from open to close. Cost is  $2.25 per game. For every four games you bowl, your name will be entered into a drawing to win $250! The drawing will be held every two weeks.

Youth Programs offers the following Instructional Classes

“One Page at a Time” Air Force Reading Program: This motivational program is open to youth ages 5-13. Children read books, document their literacy accomplishments and earn incentives for their successes!

Edwards Dance Factory: Dance Classes are held at the Creative Arts Center (JZ) for ages 3-15. Receive professional dance instruction in ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, competition team, and Disneyland Jazz. There are many great opportunities for youth who love to dance. Toddler Learning Center: Toddler Classes are held at the Creative Arts Center (JZ) for ages 1-4, older siblings are welcome!
