Assumption of command

Col. William W. Gideon, deputy director for Agile Combat Support, Aeronautical Systems Center, cordially invites you to an Assumption of Leadership Ceremony where Lt. Col. Gene F. Cummins will assume leadership of Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Detachment 1, Air Force Plant 42, Palmdale, Calif.

The ceremony is at 8 a.m., July 31 at Fire Station 1. Entry Control Point is located at East Avenue P and 25th Street. RSVP by July 30.

Personnel without CACs should contact (661) 272-6641 or (661) 272-6713. Dress is uniform of the day for military and business casual for civilians. A reception will follow.

 

School district election

There will be an election Nov. 6 to fill four seats on the governing board of the Muroc Unified School District.

The four seats are:

  • North Edwards (four-year term)
  • Edwards AFB (two-year term)
  • Edwards AFB (four-year term)
  • Boron (four-year term)

Candidates must be registered voters living in the trustee area to be represented.

Declaration of Candidacy forms will be available beginning July 16, 2012, from the Kern County Elections Division, 1115 Truxtun Avenue, Bakersfield, CA, and shall be filed with the Elections Division no later than 5 p.m., Aug. 10, 2012.

Candidates may access the forms from the election division website at http://elections.co.kern.ca.us/elections/campaignfiling_public.

Off-road vehicle requirements

The Air Force requires all operators of off-road motorcycles, three-wheelers and ATVs to successfully complete safety training before operating their vehicles on a military installation.

That means anyone who wants to ride those vehicles in an off-road vehicle area at Edwards must be able to show proof of the successful completion of training from groups such as the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America or the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.

If there are costs to complete this training, they must be paid by the person completing the training.

Federal Women’s Program Manager vacancy

The Equal Opportunity Office is accepting letters of interest from Air Force civilians who want to serve a two-year term as the Federal Women’s Program Manager. Letters should explain the basis of interest in the position and must be endorsed by the applicant’s immediate supervisor.

The FWPM position is a collateral duty that requires up to 20 percent of the incumbent’s duty time.

American Indian/Alaskan Native program manager vacancy

Letters should explain the basis of interest in the position and must be endorsed by the applicant’s immediate supervisor. The AI/ANPM position is a collateral duty that requires up to 20 percent of the incumbent’s duty time.

TMO pick up times change

To mitigate the increasing challenges of securing pack/pick up dates during July and August, the Air Force Joint Personal Property Shipping Office will institute measures to ensure equality customer service.

Traffic Management Office counselors will inform individuals the normal required time to schedule a pick up is five weeks during this peak season. Shipments requiring pick up within three weeks must be coordinated with the applicable JPPSO prior to submission (excludes Technical Training). These measures became effective June 29 and do not apply to those shipments counseled prior to that date.
