Fraudulent check increase

In the past few weeks, the Base Legal Office have seen a rise in check scams.

Checks will come in the mail with a correct address and name, appear to be real with routing numbers, business names, watermarks and perforations. The checks can come from companies or be in the name of some sweepstake or lottery. Sometimes the teller will not be able to determine if it is fraudulent. The Legal Office warns not to deposit the check, as bank customers are responsible for the checks they deposit.

For more information, call (661) 277-4310.

Off-road vehicle requirements

The Air Force requires all operators of off-road motorcycles, three-wheelers and ATVs to successfully complete safety training before operating their vehicles on a military installation.

That means anyone who wants to ride those vehicles in an off-road vehicle area at Edwards must be able to show proof of the successful completion of training from groups such as the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America or the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.

If there are costs to complete this training, they must be paid by the person completing the training.

The following link will provide the required training through the SVIA online at no cost - www.atvsafety.org.
