On Sept. 17, an Edwards Air Force Base photo services contractor was honored with the Aerospace Systems Directorate Coin and the Air Force Research Laboratory Detachment 7 Commander’s Coin by Col. Michael Platt.

Ray Dyakon also received a certificate from his employer, Bionetics Photo Services/Media Fusion, for developing a climate controlled box designed to house newly acquired high-speed digital camera equipment. The enclosure protects the camera from harsh elements at AFRL by utilizing a fan system which circulates the heat created by the camera out of the box away from the camera.

This box gives engineers the flexibility to test in severe weather conditions and still preserve the data required for documentation of several multimillion dollar rocket firings and other test projects.

Dyakon has been working in Photo-Optical Instrumentation for over 50 years. He has worked at Land Air/DynCorp at White Sands Missile Range, N.M.; Yuma Proving Grounds, Ariz.; NASA Wallops Island, Va.; Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., High Speed Test Track; NASA White Sands Test Facility; and has been here at Edwards for fourteen years.
His contributions and innovations for Edwards and AFRL have helped to structure the lab in the best, most cost-effective way possible for the needs of the Air Force, while at the same time setting a standard for Photo-Optical Instrumentation across the board.

Media Fusion and Bionetics Photo Services provide photo and video support for the 412th Test Wing.
