Air Force Sports Program releases try-out dates for 2013

412th Force Support Squadron

af-sports
For the Air Force athlete interested in playing at a more competitive level, the Air Force Sports Program has once again listed all the available try-out dates for 2013.

The AFSP is designed to allow active duty, National Guard and reserve Air Force personnel an opportunity to participate at Air Force, Armed Forces, national and international sports events. The AFSP is comprised of 15 different sports as annotated in the 2013 Air Force Sports calendar.

Interested applicants for any of the Air Force Sports programs listed on the attached calendar need to:

  • be active duty Air Force, National Guard and reserve Air Force personnel
  • be competing in that sport at a varsity level or higher
  • fill out an AF 303, “Request for USAF Specialized Sports Training,” and submit it to the Rosburg Fitness Center prior to deadline date
  • obtain a supervisor’s, commander’s, and Fitness Center Director’s endorsements on the AF Form 303

Experience cited in higher level competition and recent significant performances in the sport are important to the selection criteria. Experience listed in section IV should be in reverse chronological order, beginning with the most recent and working backwards.

Athletes selected for training are invited to attend trial camps and other Air Force championship events. Trial camps are short in duration, physically demanding, mentally challenging and highly competitive. Athletes should be in top condition for the trial camps to best showcase their talents and abilities to the coach and other officials who will select the AF team.

Further questions should be addressed to the Sports Director at (661) 275-4961.
