Commissary closure

The Commissary will be closed Feb. 18 in observance of President’s Day.

 

Exchange hours

The Edwards Exchange will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. President’s Day, Feb. 18.

 

President’s Day: Feb. 18

All 412th FSS facilities will be closed except the following:

  • Aero Club: Flying sunrise to sunset, office closed
  • High Desert Inn: Open 7-days a week, 24-hours a day
  • Joshua Tree Dining Facility: 6 a.m.-8 a.m.; 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; 4-7 p.m.; 11 p.m.-1 a.m.
  • Muroc Lake Golf Course: 7 a.m. to Sunset
  • Rosburg Fitness Center: 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Sandbagger Grill at Muroc Lake Golf Course: 7 a.m.–2 p.m.

 

Upgrade of LeaveWeb on Feb. 20

LeaveWeb will be upgrading to version 4.0 Feb. 20 and the system may be down from Feb. 20 to 22 due to the system updates. The new LeaveWeb 4.0 update will process all 18 types of leave and require digital signatures for all requested and approved military leave. Military members seeking leave for the identified timeframe can fill out the paper copy AF 988, Leave Request/Authorization form, route it within their respective unit, and then submit it to 412th Comptroller Squadron for processing.

South Gate construction delays

Construction began last month to erect a canopy covering the inbound traffic check point at the South Gate. Estimated completion of the construction is Feb.25. Expect possible delays when entering the gate.

Edwards’ Conference Center temporarily unavailable

The Conference Center is temporarily unavailable due to staffing constraints. Alternative areas should be utilized until further notice (i.e. Club Muroc, Community Center, Base Theater, etc.). An email will be sent out to notify the Edwards Community when the Conference Center is available for use again. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Logistics/Supply Ballroom closed

The Logistics/Supply Ballroom located in Bldg. 3735 is currently unavailable due to renovations. The estimated time-frame is six to nine months. For questions contact Betty A. Nakashige at (661) 277-2710.

 

Retirement ceremony 

Members of Team Edwards are invited to wish Edwards Environmental Management Director Bob Wood a happy retirement during a ceremony 2 p.m., Feb. 27 in Club Muroc. A reception will follow. Leave carry-over extended

Airmen with more than 60 days of leave at the beginning of next fiscal year may be able to carry it into the next fiscal year thanks to a provision in the Fiscal Year 2013 National Defense Authorization Act.

The provision extends the maximum leave carryover of 75 days through Sept. 30, 2015, according to Senior Master Sgt. Kreig Cressione, the Air Force Personnel Center Special Programs Branch Chief.

Pageant

Sign up now to vie for title of Miss, Junior Miss, or Little Miss Edwards Air Force Base. This year’s pageant will be held on March 30.

The age categories are: Miss, 16-19; Junior Miss, 11-13; and Little Miss, 6-8.

Rehearsals will begin the first Wednesday in February, and more information will be provided at the first rehearsal meeting.
