Gate locked

Due to security-related construction concerns, the gate leading to the Consolidation Recycling Universal Waste Facility (Bldg. 4904) will be closed and locked for several weeks. For universal waste support and other deliveries to 4904, please plan accordingly and call (661) 277-3681 for entry. †Depending on staffing and hazardous/universal waste activity, it may take several minutes before someone can open the gate. Changes of command

416th Flight Test Squadron: Col. Rodney Todaro, 412th Operations Group commander, invites you to attend a change of command ceremony at which Lt. Col. Leonard Kearl will relinquish command of the 416th Flight Test Squadron to Lt. Col. Robert Ungerman July 11 at 10 a.m. in Hangar 1600.

412th Medical Operations Squadron: Col. Stephen K. Donaldson, 412th Medical Group commander, cordially invites you to attend a change of command ceremony at which Lt. Col. Tracy A. Neal-Walden will relinquish command of the 412th Medical Operations Squadron to Lt. Col. Corey J. Munro Monday, July 22 at 2 p.m. The ceremony will be held at Club Muroc. AFRL Det. 7: Col. Roger M. Vincent, Air Force Research Laboratory vice commander, requests the pleasure of your company at the change of command ceremony where Lt. Col. Patrick W. Davis will assume command of Air Force Research Laboratory Detachment 7 from Col. Michael H. Platt. The ceremony will is 8 a.m., July 22 in the Rocket Science Center (Bldg. 8424) at AFRL. 412th Aerospace Medicine Squadron: Col. Stephen K. Donaldson, 412th Medical Group commander, cordially invites you to a change of command ceremony at which Lt. Col.†Kathryn G. Legal office closed

The 412th Test Wing Legal Office will be closed July 15 for an official function and will reopen July 16 with normal business hours. †In case of an emergency, contact the on-call Judge Advocate General at (661) 810-3797.

Technical Research Library closure

The Technical Research Library will close July 11-26 in order to complete the second half of the moveable shelving renovation. During this time, the library will be closed to walk in users but will still be able to provide limited reference and assistance by phone and email. To return materials during this time, place items in the library book drop located in Bldg. 1400 outside of Room 106. The library will reopen July 29.

Technical Library hours during furlough:†Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (closed daily 11 a.m. to noon). Library Staff is staggering hours to minimize service interruption.

American Sign Language classes

Would you like to learn how to communicate with deaf individuals a little better? Are you a coworker or supervisor of a deaf employee here on base? Then here’s your chance! A Basic Sign Language class will be offered once a week on Thursdays, starting July 11 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. This will be a 10-week course. The class will be held in Bldg. 3760 (EEO) in the classroom. This basic class will be designed to help supervisors, co-workers and friends better communicate with our deaf employees. Registration will be on a first come, first serve basis. To register fortyhis upcoming class, email Amber Ludwig at Amber.Ludwig@us.af.mil no later than July 13.

Road delays

June 10 through Aug. 1, 2013, base motorists will encounter minor delays as work to improve roadway drainage is performed at the intersection of Rosamond Boulevard and Muroc Avenue.

During this time, Rosamond will be reduced from two-lanes each way to one-lane each way and Muroc will be closed north of Rosamond near Popson and south of Rosamond at South Seller. The entrance to the overflow parking near the Chapel will remain open. Motorists need to obey all signs and directions through the work area.

Housing office hours

Beginning July 8, the Housing Office Hours will be 8 a.m.-11-30 a.m., and 1-3 p.m., Monday through Friday. The change is required due to minimum manning during furloughs.

HAWC Summer sun Fun Run/Walk

The Health and Wellness Center is hosting summer sun fun run/walk event July 10. Due to popular demand there will be three distances: 5K, 7.5K and 10K. The event begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Rosburg Fitness Center parking lot. The event is open to runners and walkers of all levels so make it your squadron PT and come exercise your body as well as your mind.
