Fitness center closure

Effective July 13, the Rosburg Fitness Center will be closed Saturdays due to the furlough. The new Fitness Center hours are 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday to Friday, closed Saturday and Sunday. Anticipated normal hours of operation will resume after Sept. 28, 2013.

Education Center open house

The Education Center will be hosting an open house 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., July 17 at the Education and Training Center, Bldg. 2453. All military, family members and civilians working on Edwards are welcome.

Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with the center staff members and the on-base colleges and universities about their programs to include CDE, LTFT/PT, Commissioning, college/university programs, and Library resources, Tuition Assistance, Military PME, Testing†and much more.

A complimentary lunch will be provided by Embry-Riddle and Webster University.

New DOD Student Complaint Syste

As part of the Presidential Executive Order 13607 ensuring the quality of academic programs for service members, the Department of Defense has launched the DoD Complaint System for service members to use to file complaints against academic institutions in areas related to fraud, misrepresentation, etc. The Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Education have partnered with the Department of Justice to develop a system to track and monitor student complaints for possible action.

The Air Force is piloting the DOD program until July 17.

Airmen may reach the DOD Complaint System through the Air Force Virtual Education Center at https://www.my.af.mil/afvecprod/afvec/Home.aspx.

Changes of command

412th Medical Operations Squadron: Col. Stephen K. Donaldson, 412th Medical Group commander, cordially invites you to attend a change of command ceremony at which Lt. Col. Tracy A. Neal-Walden will relinquish command of the 412th Medical Operations Squadron to Lt. Col. Corey J. Munro Monday, July 22 at 2 p.m. The ceremony will be held at Club Muroc. AFRL Det. 7: Col. Roger M. Vincent, Air Force Research Laboratory vice commander, requests the pleasure of your company at the change of command ceremony where Lt. Col. Patrick W. Davis will assume command of Air Force Research Laboratory Detachment 7 from Col. Michael H. Platt. The ceremony will is 8 a.m., July 22 in the Rocket Science Center (Bldg. 8424) at AFRL. Following the ceremony, at 9:15 a.m., another ceremony will be held at Test Stand 1C for Platt’s retirement. RSVP for both events by July 10. 412th Aerospace Medicine Squadron: Col. Stephen K. Donaldson, 412th Medical Group commander, cordially invites you to a change of command ceremony at which Lt. Col.†Kathryn G. Legal office closed

The 412th Test Wing Legal Office will be closed July 15 for an official function and will reopen July 16 with normal business hours. †In case of an emergency, contact the on-call Judge Advocate General at (661) 810-3797.

Technical Research Library closure

The Technical Research Library will be closed through July 26 in order to complete the second half of the moveable shelving renovation. During this time, the library will be closed to walk in users but will still be able to provide limited reference and assistance by phone and email. To return materials during this time, place items in the library book drop located in Bldg. 1400 outside of Room 106. The library will reopen July 29.

Gate locked

Due to security-related construction concerns, the gate leading to the Consolidation Recycling Universal Waste Facility (Bldg. 4904) will be closed and locked for several weeks. For universal waste support and other deliveries to 4904, please plan accordingly and call (661) 277-3681 for entry.†Depending on staffing and hazardous/universal waste activity, it may take several minutes before someone can open the gate.
