Promotion ceremony

The Team Edwards promotion ceremony is at 3 p.m., Sept. 30 in the Base Theater. Promotees and commanders will be in service dress.†Uniform of the day for all other attendees.

Military gas station closure

All Edwards AFB “military” gas stations will be closed 9 p.m.-midnight, Sept. 30 from in order to accomplish end of year inventory procedures. This does not include the AAFES gas station.

Flu vaccines

Oct. 7, from noon-3 p.m., the 412th Medical Group will host a flu vaccination line for active duty members at the Oasis Community Center. The flu vaccine is required to maintain Individual medical readiness currency and helps in preventing the spread of the flu. All other 412th Medical Group beneficiaries may receive their flu vaccination when the next flu vaccine shipment arrives. Still serving

The Base Exchange will be hosting a series of “Still Serving” events to
honor military retirees Oct. 4 to 10. The promotions will include discounts, gift card giveaways and demonstrations from the Edwards AFB Fire Department and 412th Security Forces Squadron K-9 unit. The event will end with a kids craft night, 4-6 p.m., Oct. 10 where they will make cards for veterans. Customers can also nominate their favorite Military community volunteers to win prizes in the “Serving the Military Community” contest at shopmyexchange.com/patriotfamily.

Blood Drive

All members of the Edwards AFB community are welcome to donate blood 10 a.m.-4 pm., Oct. 2 at the Chapel 1 Annex located at 2700 South Muroc Drive.

DFAC Table Bussing

Effective Oct. 1, Joshua Tree Dining Facility customers will be required to take their trays and dishes to the dish collection area.†All Air Force food service contracts were amended to reflect this change. †

Futbol Experience

The Edwards Hispanic Heritage Month committee is sponsoring a Futbol Experience event 1-5 p.m., Oct. 4 at Wings Field. All of Team Edwards is welcome to attend.†Come out, take pictures and meet members of the Chivas USA team and the Chivas Girls. Santos USA Academy will also be giving free soccer clinics for all ages throughout the event. There will be a mini soccer tournament to see which squadron takes the championship and bragging rights. We will also have food, soccer, music and prizes for your enjoyment.
