Robert Hoover visits Edwards

Students from the United States Air Force Test Pilot School’s Class 13A present their class patch to Robert “Bob” Hoover Oct. 18 during the filming of a documentary based on his life as a former USAF test pilot at Edwards. Hoover is a former World War II fighter pilot and prisoner of war, air show performer and test pilot who flew the chase plane while Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier on the Bell X-1, Oct. 14, 1947. Hoover was also the alternate pilot for the Bell X-1.
