Commissary open

Blood drive

The next American Red Cross Blood Drive on Edwards is 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Nov. 6 in the Chapel 1 Annex. †Both walk-ins and appointments are accepted. †To make an appointment, contact Staff Sgt. Old AAFES gas station demo

Beginning Nov. 1, security fencing will be installed around the perimeter of the old AAFES Gas Station to include all parking lot areas in preparation for abatement and demolition activities. Make sure you do not park your POVs in that area as it has been noted that a few individuals have parked their vehicles there over the past couple of weeks.

Airman’s Attic volunteer Workday

The Edwards AFB Airman’s Attic will be having a volunteer workday †3-6 p.m., Nov. 1. This is a perfect opportunity for those who need volunteer hours. We will be working on moving our holiday items onto the floor and doing some minor cleaning. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Master Sgt. Becoming a Love and Logic Parent

This-four session class is designed to give you practical skills that can be used immediately. Sessions are 10 a.m.-noon, Dec. 3, 10, 17 and 19 and are in the Chapel 2 Classrom. Topics include: How to use humor, hope and empathy to build up the adult-child relationship; Using respect and dignity for both children and adults; How to provide real limits in a loving way; and Teaching consequences and healthy decision making.

Active Communication Class

This interactive program that teaches you to powerfully communicate and successfully resolve disagreements to promote teamwork, respect, joy and intimacy. This fun, practical seminar will cover topics such as, conflict resolution skills, understanding the mechanism of love and emotion, increased listening and speaking skills and identifying emotional areas that can be distressing.

Sessions are 11:30 a.m-1p.m., Dec. Dec. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 in the Chapel 2 classroom.

Corvias Fallapalooza

Corvias Military Living will be hosting their first resident activity event, Fallapalooza, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Nov. 16 at Arnold Park, Bldg. 5211. The event is free and open to all on-base residents and their families. Activities will include bouncy castles, games and activities such as pumpkin painting. There will also be sandwiches, pies, cakes and a candied apple-making station.

Promotion

Chaplin (Maj.) Brendon O’Dowd will assume the rank of lieutenant colonel Nov. 1, during a promotion ceremony held at Chapel Two at 2 p.m. Team Edwards is invited to attend. O’Dowd is the Wing Chaplin for the 412th Test Wing at Edwards. In addition to coordinating ecumenical and interfaith services, he advises commanders on issues of religious accommodation, ethics, morale and quality of life.

Retirement
