DHS girls volleyball team ends season 18-5

Desert High School varsity volleyball players, Devyn Cross, #24, and Elizabeth Shelton, #16, jump up for the block during a California Interscholastic Federation playoff game Nov. 14 against a North City Christian School hitter in order to advance to the CIF quarter finals. The team finished their season with a league record of 12-2 and overall record of 18-5.

The Desert Junior Senior High School girls volleyball team recently finished their season as Desert Mountain League Tri-Champions along with Desert Christian and Mammoth High Schools, and surpassed their season with a final league record of 12-2.

The team played their final game against Pomona Catholic High School Nov. 16 during the California Interscholastic Federation Quarter Finals where they fell after 3 sets.

“Desert hasn’t made it to the quarter finals since 1990, so this was an exciting accomplishment,” said Debbie Lewis, varsity DHS girls volleyball coach. “Although we didn’t make it through to the finals, we will return with six sophomores and two juniors, so next year looks promising, but nevertheless, we will surely miss our seniors.”

The team finished with an overall record of 18-5.
