Gaining Altitude – Growth Opportunities for the Week

Through our character – an opportunity to reflect on important issues in our community

- Do you know what took place every year from 1910 to 1950 at the department store Wanamaker’s in Philadelphia this time of year?  More than 14,000 would walk through huge double doors and take their seats as an organist led the crowd in singing the hymn: “O Come, All Ye Faithful.”  It seems we have lost that perspective in our culture and yet people still love to hear the sounds of Christmas as evidenced by some recent YouTube videos.  The U.S. Air Force Band flash mob performance at Smithsonian Museum singing “Joy to The World” with two million hits and the a cappella group Pentatonix rendition of “Little Drummer Boy” with more than 20 million hits prove the reason for the season is not so far away.

Through our prayers – an opportunity to pray for the needs of our community

- Ask God to help you make time to celebrate the real reason for the season.

Lawrence agreed but asked for an...

Through our character – an opportunity to reflect on important issues in our community

- Last year an Oregon woman with a brain tumor made the very public choice to die. But a Colorado woman facing a terminal disease chose to live through it. Kara Tippetts, a 38-year-old married mother of four, knew the fear and pain of a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Her approach to this trial was...

Sexual assault survivor: One Airman’s story

- By a Survivor WASHINGTON — Sexual assault is a hot topic — one addressed in annual training and at commander’s calls throughout the Air Force — yet the details of victims’ stories are seldom mentioned. This is understandable. These crimes against service members are intensely personal. Also, as many survivors have learned, listeners don’t...
