Gaining Altitude – Growth Opportunities for the Week

Through our character – an opportunity to reflect on important issues in our community

- Can a human mind become detached like a retina in person’s eye? Theologian and Bishop N.T. Wright claims that is exactly what happens when we put our feelings ahead of reason.  For instance in a contentious meeting we probably say “I feel that’s wrong,” rather than “I think that’s wrong” because it is less confrontational.  Feelings, although important, now carry more weight in an argument.  We see this in our newscasts that have become rants rather than helping us reasonably work out difficult issues. But people of character are able to balance reason and feelings.

Through our prayers – an opportunity to pray for the needs of our community

- Ask God to help you achieve ‘thought and feeling’ balance as a way to develop your character.
