In memoriam

Michael Anthony Golackson, age 52, passed away Jan. 26, 2014, in his hometown of Tehachapi.

Golackson was born in Festus, Mo., Nov. 11, 1961. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines, for three years. After working his way through college to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cal State Fullerton, Golackson went on to work as a civilian engineer at Edwards Air Force Base for more than 20 years.

Despite his dedication to his work and service to his country, he always put his family first. He loved traveling, coaching his kids in soccer, and snow-skiing in Lake Tahoe with his family. He is survived by his mother; Jean, his sisters; Paula and Cristi, his mother-in-law; Betty, his children; Bradley and Erin, and his beloved wife, Nicolle.

He will be greatly missed by his community, by his family, and by all those whose life he has touched with his humor and constant encouragement. Golackson will forever be remembered as a courageous man of God, a faithful friend, and a loving husband and father.

Services will be held at Country Oaks Baptist Church, 20915 Schout Rd., Tehachapi, Calif., 93561, at 10 a.m., Feb. 3. As a veteran, he will be buried at the Bakersfield National Cemetery, 30338 E. Bear Mountain Blvd. Calif., directly following the services.

In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made in his honor to Country Oaks Baptist Church or the United Services Organization.
