AF Portal hosts free civilian development site

Air Force civilian employees can go to the Air Force Portal for free career development tools, tips and guidance, Air Force Personnel Center officials said.

The Civilian Development Resource Center, formerly the Supervisor Resource Center, now offers self-development tools for supervisory as well as non-supervisory career tracks. The site provides round-the-clock access to development resources for all employees at any career level, including access to e-Learning and other educational platforms to help employees build skills to improve their career performance.

“The CDRC is a single entry port for all civilians who want free self-development tools that respect their time and provide flexible resources to help enhance their skills,” said Michael Hameroff, headquarters, Air Force civilian training policy and operations chief. “Self-development is an individual responsibility for all Airmen, and this site enables our civilian workforce to meet that responsibility. The look and feel of the renamed site reflects a broader focus supporting the development needs for employees throughout their career.”

The site has been re-engineered to help users quickly target customizable learning programs focusing on the employees’ individual goals. When entering the site, Airmen choose the area in the ‘Navigating Your Development’ section that corresponds to their stage of development. There, they will have access to tools and information customized for their career level. The CDRC also provides learning opportunities for those who want to develop core proficiencies, which Hameroff says are expected of every Airman.

Airmen will also find a monthly newsletter highlighting selected courses, books, links to free on-line resources, such as simulations, videos, job aids and more.

“Supervisors can also use the site for their own personal development as well as a tool to help guide subordinate development,” said Hameroff. “This change recognizes the considerable contributions of all civilians as well as the need to develop them from the time they are hired through each step on their career path.”

To access the CDRC site, go to the AF Portal at https://www.my.af.mil and select the Career and Training Tab. Then select “Force Development” and click on the Civilian Development Resource Center link located on the left navigation panel.
