Blood drive

The next American Red Cross Blood Drive at Edwards AFB is 10 a.m.-4 p.m., May 7 in the Chapel 1 Annex. Both walk-ins and appointments are accepted. To make an appointment you may contact the blood drive coordinator Senior Airman Joe Hernandez at joe.herndandez.8@us.af.mil.

You may also self book your appointment at www.redcrossblood.org/make-donation. The sponsor code is Chapel1. For more information, call (661) 277-0824.

Retirements

Team Edwards is cordially invited to attend Russell ìRussî Kochie’s retirement ceremony May 1. The retirement ceremony is 11 a.m., in the Chapel 1 annex and will be a Hawaiian Luau theme, so feel free to wear your Hawaiian shirts and skirts! Team Edwards is cordially invited to attend a ceremony honoring Master Sgt. Howard Beck Jr., 412th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, on the occasion of his retirement from the U.S. Air Force. The ceremony is 10 a.m., April 28 at the Air Force Flight Test Museum. Attire is uniform of the day for military and smart casual for civilians. The point of contact for this event is Master Sgt. Volunteers needed

Calling All Volunteers!†This year’s 2014 National Disability Employment Awareness Month is just around the corner in October and we are looking for motivated individuals to serve on various committees.†If you would like to be involved, contact the lead support officer, Senior Master Sgt. CCAF graduation

The Community College of the Air Force Graduation Ceremony is 2:30-4:30 p.m., May 7 at Club Muroc. The graduation ceremony will honor the October 2013 and the April 2014 CCAF classes and will also recognize enlisted Airmen who have completed their higher level degree from a civilian college.

Dress for the ceremony will be service dress for the graduates and for those participating in the ceremony. For all other military attendees dress will be the duty uniform of the day, and business casual for civilians.

Wingman Day

The next Wingman Day is May 5, and the main event will be held at 1 p.m. in the Base Theater.†Popcorn will be passed out before a viewing of a short film entitled “Falling In Love.”†Live streaming will also be offered for those units who cannot be at the theater.

Emails have been sent to unit workflows and individual Wingman Day Reps on suggested presentations and activities for the morning session. The information and presentations are posted on the Edwards Portal and SharePoint.

Wingman Day is a way to get to know your Airmen. It is giving people a break to have face-to-face communication to build a foundation of trust, camaraderie and team spirit.

Resilience training

Resilience Training is now available to civilian employees. Brig. Gen. Michael T. Brewer authorized civilian employees to attend a six-hour resilience training class. The next class will be offered April 23 starting at 7:30 a.m. in Bldg. 2460, Room A. If interested in attending, contact Nancy Koch-Castillo at (661) 277-6711 or email nancy.kochcastillo.1@us.af.mil.

Future resilience classes will be held the third Wednesday of every month starting at 7:30 a.m. in Bldg. 2460, Room A.

Boy Scouts

Anyone interested in joining the Boy Scouts, there is troop that operates and meets on Edwards. Boy Scout Troop 247 membership consists of active duty, retired military, government civilians and contractors. The troop currently meets 5:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesdays at Chapel 2. Troop 247 runs an outdoor-oriented program for boys ages 11 through 17 with an emphasis on hiking and camping activities. Volunteer appreciation

Brig. Gen. Michael T. Brewer, 412th Test Wing commander, cordially invites you to attend the Edwards Air Force Base Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony, “Our Volunteers are Shining Stars!” The ceremony will be 9 a.m., April 29 in the Airman and Family Readiness Center Extender Room. A reception with cake and punch will follow the ceremony. RSVP by April 18 by calling (661) 277-0723 or by replying to the e-invitation send out base wide.

Passport photos

Oval Studios now offers passport photos.

Located next to Subway in the Desert Mall (Bldg. 7210), the studio is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; and 5-8 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Additionally, Oval Studios offers customized portraits and photography classes.
